Motiv CEO Selected for
Silicon Valley Business Journal: 40 Under 40
We are honored to have our CEO and Founder, Jim Castelaz, featured in Silicon Valley Business Journal: 40 under 40.
As CEO, Jim holds the vision for the future of electronic trucks and drives the strategic and technical direction of Motiv. Fueled by a passion for the environment and a curiosity for EV, eight years ago he got to work on a solution to free commercial fleets from their dependency on fossil fuels. Motiv's All-Electric Powertrain couples the best of advanced power electronics and software with off-the-shelf batteries and components. With this approach, the All-Electric Powertrain can fit on popular existing chassis types, work with any present or future battery and motor, scale up and down to fit any truck or bus size, and empower existing truck builders to offer electric options of their current vehicles.
Jim has led Motiv to achieve six patents for systems and methods around managing a power system with multiple power components, load testing multiple power converters without dedicated test equipment, and balancing charge within a battery pack. The company has five patents pending covering electric vehicle power system innovations.
Jim believes in the future of electric. Before Motiv, Jim was a Chief Architect at an EV start-up focused on designing electric buses for the Chinese Market. His other projects included developing an electric motorcycle, solid state transformers for the power distribution grid with Southern California Edison, and various other embedded systems.

MAPT Conference 2017 Recap
In June, we exhibited at the Michigan Association for Pupil Transportation (MAPT) Conference in Lansing, Michigan. We displayed the only all-electric chassis option on the show floor where attendees got to experience how quiet and non-emissive our chassis is.
Our chassis was turned on and running consistently, inside the show hall, all day!

Did You Know?
A Motiv-Powered Fleet in Northern California has
Traveled Over 225,000 Miles
The city of Mountain View has had Motiv-Powered shuttles in operation since 2015, providing free local transportation to their community.
The average fuel economy of a fossil fuel-powered shuttle bus is 6 miles per gallon (MPG) of gasoline. These Motiv-Powered shuttles have eliminated the need for over 37,500 gallons of gasoline - that's over 772 barrels of oil saved!
Beyond fuel cost savings, this has also resulted in over
300 tons of carbon pollution being kept out of the atmosphere!
