Celebrating San Bernardino's First
All-Electric School Buses

On November 1, 2017,  Motiv Power Systems and Creative Bus Sales joined Colton Joint Unified School District in celebrating the delivery of two all-electric, Motiv-powered, Type C school buses in San Bernardino County, California.  During the inauguration event, Assembly Member Eloise Gomez Reyes, a strong environmental advocate, spoke in support of cleaner air for our communities.

The Starcraft eQuest XL school buses from Creative Bus Sales are the only American-made, all-electric, Type C school buses manufactured for special needs transportation. An all-electric, Motiv-powered chassis is designed to meet and exceed internal combustion engine performance and provides comparable acceleration and hill climbing power. Combined with less chassis heat, vibration, and noise, our driving experience is both safer and smoother for our drivers and kids.

These school buses were made possible by a grant through the California Energy Commission and the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

Did You Know?

Cold Weather?
Sodium Nickel Batteries Save You Time and Money.

The Motiv All-Electric Powertrain includes Sodium Nickel batteries, providing a superior energy storage solution compared to other battery technologies. Other battery technologies can lose up to 50% of their energy capacity and can take up to 70% longer to charge as temperatures drop from 75°F to 32°F. They can also require the purchase of "extra capacity" to meet range requirements during cold weather conditions.

Sodium Nickel batteries are specially sealed and thermally isolated, maintaining a consistent internal temperature. It's the consistent temperature that ensures consistent energy capacity and charge time during the colder months.

Sodium Nickel batteries deliver the same range and performance
from -40
°F to 120°F.

We Would Love to Hear from You

About Motiv Power Systems

Founded in 2009 and based in Foster City, California, Motiv Power Systems designs and builds All-Electric Powertrains for commercial medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses. The powertrains are based on commercially-available, proven-reliable common parts like battery packs, motors, and high voltage accessories configured to meet the diverse needs of the commercial vehicle industry. Common vehicle types from these builders include work, delivery, and refuse trucks, as well as school and shuttle buses.

As the only Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier-approved provider of all-electric powertrains for commercial trucks and buses, Motiv partners with existing truck builders who manufacture electric versions of their traditional fossil-fueled vehicles on their current assembly lines using the Motiv All-Electric Powertrain. The award-winning Motiv All-Electric Powertrain is installed at the time of vehicle manufacture, similar to a natural gas or propane upfit.

We're committed to freeing fleets from their dependency on fossil fuels.

Motiv-powered vehicles have driven 294,400 miles and counting!
