Two New All-Electric Refuse Trucks
Headed to Los Angeles
We are pleased to announce an order for TWO all-electric refuse trucks from the City of Los Angeles' Sanitation Department. This marks the third metropolitan area in the United States that will utilize and benefit from Motiv-Powered, all-electric, zero-emission refuse trucks in their communities.
Los Angeles has followed the lead of their counterparts in the state capitol, Sacramento, offering their residents refuse trucks that not only eliminate carbon emissions, but also noise. These refuse trucks will ensure quieter mornings for the residents of Los Angeles!
Refuse trucks are ideal candidates (economically and environmentally) for electrification due to their fixed pickup routes and predictable range requirements. The application of Motiv's
All-Electric Powertrain results in a high quality, zero-emission electric vehicle with the same capability as traditional diesel-powered vehicles WITHOUT the noise or pollution typically associated with refuse trucks. These benefits, along with potential 85% reduction in operating costs, make Motiv an intelligent choice in All-Electric Powertrain solutions.

News & Policy
In July, Motiv was proud to support the extension of California’s Cap-and-Trade bills to ensure California remains a global leader in addressing climate change, while also prioritizing local air quality and community health. We have been proud to work with the California Air Resources Board on projects designed to bring health benefits to disadvantaged communities across California, while also reducing the state’s emissions. The Cap-and-Trade extension ensures these programs can continue to work for all Californians for another decade.
"There's an old expression, 'think globally, act locally.' The cap-and-trade and air quality bills the Governor is signing into law this week do both. With these bills we are continuing California's global leadership on climate change and, at the same time, bringing direct air quality improvements to local communities that have been most harmed by pollution. California is once again showing you can succeed by being visionary and practical at the same time," said Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon.
Fleets who want to proactively join California in the quest to reduce pollution and improve our air quality already have access to funding from Cap-and-Trade revenue, with programs like the Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP). With Cap-and-Trade’s extension, fleets can expect ongoing support to lead the transition into cleaner solutions. Our All-Electric Powertrain powers many vehicles eligible for such incentives including school buses, shuttle buses, delivery trucks, and work trucks. As we continue our mission to Free Fleets from Fossil Fuels, we support policies that enable sustainable solutions that serve our communities and customers.
