California Kids to Breathe Freely as New
Motiv-Powered School Buses Roll Out

In Summer 2018, Brawley Elementary, Gateway, and Los Angeles Unified School Districts in California will be home to five all-electric, Motiv-powered, Type C school buses.

These districts will directly experience the reduction in fuel costs and maintenance that a Motiv-powered school bus provides.  Additionally, California students, drivers, and local communities will take the healthy way to school. Riding in comfort and near silence, Motiv’s all-electric chassis provides dramatically reduced vibration and noise with zero tailpipe emissions. Motiv also uses the safest battery technology available, to protect our most precious cargo.

California Sets Goal of
5 Million Zero-Emission Vehicles by 2030

$1.25 Billion Earmarked Towards Green Initiatives

Governor Brown created a new Zero-Emission Vehicle Executive Order during his State of The State, announcing California's goal of deploying at least 5 million zero-emission vehicles on California roads by 2030. The order recognizes the transportation sector still emits 50% of California’s total greenhouse gas emissions and 80% of the smog-forming oxides of nitrogen. Today's trucks and buses are responsible for 37% of California’s greenhouse gas and criteria emissions. Governor Brown's plan includes investing $1.25 billion in cap-and-trade auction proceeds to improve air quality, the economy, and public health.

From prototype to production, Motiv has worked with the State of California to advance the technology, commercial maturity, and availability of zero-emission solutions. Find out what funding is available to you by contacting our sales team

Did You Know?

No Transmission Means Fewer Repairs.

A Motiv All-Electric Chassis eliminates the need for a transmission. In addition to providing a smoother ride without gear changes, transmissions are complex and very expensive to repair or replace. By contrast, Motiv powered all-electric vehicles have fewer mechanical failure points, and when servicing is needed, require fewer tools, with most components literally being plug-and-play. Better still, most diagnostics and all software updates don’t require any tools at all – taking place over the air via Wi-Fi.

Fewer down days for maintenance means more days on the road.

About Motiv Power Systems

Founded in 2009 and based in Foster City, California, Motiv Power Systems designs and builds All-Electric Powertrains for commercial medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses. The powertrains are based on commercially-available, proven-reliable common parts like battery packs, motors, and high voltage accessories configured to meet the diverse needs of the commercial vehicle industry. Common vehicle types from these builders include work, delivery, and refuse trucks, as well as school and shuttle buses.

As the only Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier-approved provider of all-electric powertrains for commercial trucks and buses, Motiv partners with existing truck builders who manufacture electric versions of their traditional fossil-fueled vehicles on their current assembly lines using the Motiv All-Electric Powertrain. The award-winning Motiv All-Electric Powertrain is installed at the time of vehicle manufacture, similar to a natural gas or propane upfit.

We're committed to freeing fleets from their dependency on fossil fuels.

Motiv-powered vehicles have driven 307,050 miles and counting!
